Tiny Tots in studio photo session in Allen TX Photographer

It might be cold outside, but it’s warm in my studio in Allen!   Little Emery came to see me last week for a tiny tots 10-month session.  What a fun age – this adorable little baby was all smiles for me… okay, maybe mommy may had to work a little bit for those big smiles.  But, we got a bunch of those pretty smiles and way too many photos.   Mommy and daddy will never be able to choose just a few to hang on their wall haha.

Here is a little sneak peek for the patiently waiting parents.  Seriously, you can bring this little girl to see me any time!

Photographer in Allen TX ~ Photographing your own kids

Fall time is crazy time for pretty much all photographers.  There is a hustle to get those perfect fall photos, just in time for Christmas cards.  Here in the Dallas area, we really only have two months when the temperature is perfect for photo sessions.  It’s easy to lose track of time and to forget to capture your OWN memories.  So, this year, I decided to take one night out – one prime date for photo sessions – and use it for my own kiddos.   Below are photos of my session in Richardson, TX.

I get questions all the time about photographing small kids – apparently, children don’t want to look at their parents and smile pretty for the camera.  So, here are a few tips and tricks that I use on my OWN kids (because, yes, even I have trouble with my own kiddos):

1)  Bribery – Yep, it works.  I use smartees candy because they are small.  You can give one and they are happy for a photo.  Give another and they are happy again.  The gift that keeps giving.

2)  Jokes – I tell jokes.  No matter how bad the jokes are, my kids laugh at them.  The grosser the jokes, the better.  My kids current favorite:  Why did the chicken cross the road?  Answer, to poop on the rooster on the other side.  That joke resulted in photo number 1 below 🙂  Find whatever makes them laugh.  I LOVE a laughing photo.

3)  Surprise them – Oh, no, mommy has a bug in her ear!

4)  Never, ever beg….  mommy just wants ONE photo of you guys, please!!!!  Children smell desperation and will feed on it haha.

I recommend hiring a pro at least once a year when you have young children.  These precious babies are changing right before your eyes and you don’t want to miss a single moment.  Once your kiddos get older and aren’t changing so much, you will still want updated memories at least every 1-2 years.  And YOU (the parents) should be in these photos!

Monica and Xavier met me for a maternity session at one of my ultra secret spots for photography in Allen, TX.  Monica is soooooo close to having her baby, so I’m glad we were able to sneak in this session before her big day.  And what a gorgeous photo session!  The sun was in a perfect spot to get those lovely back-lit photos that I love.  Love me some sunny days 🙂

I’m so excited to meet their baby girl in just a couple of weeks!!!

Sleepy Payton came to see me this week at my home studio in Allen.  She was a perfect baby, doing everything we wanted.  I love those type of sessions!!

Mom wanted to incorporate a few things in our photo session – love the elephant and gray/yellow blanket.  These photos will look so great in the nursery!  And I am also loving the fall colors of the last photo.  Such a great session!

As usual, Melinda was all smiles for the camera.  She has to be one of the easiest toddlers I’ve ever photographed – truly a dream for any photographer 🙂  This weekend, we went to one of my favorite spots in Allen for Melinda’s mini session.

We just did photos back in the spring, but she has changed so much in that short time.  I love that I get to watch her grow and can’t wait for our next session!

Another mini session for a returning client!  This little princess and her momma met me this weekend for their photo session in Allen, TX.  Abigail kept us on our toes for sure.  Abigail’s mommy is a master at helping me get those candid huggy shots that I love.  This was definitely a more candid session since Abigail couldn’t sit still for even 1.5 seconds haha.  Got to love those busy toddlers!

I absolutely love the emotion in the family photos we captured.  Sometimes it’s the candid shots that melt your heart 🙂
