The most frequently asked question from families – What should we wear to our photo shoot???
I’m here to help out with that! I’ve dragged my husband and children out shopping for clothes shopping many times. So, I understand the stress of picking out the right outfits for your photo shoot. It’s so tough! Even I have trouble with it. So, I’ve compiled some tips to help you pick out outfits for the big day.
1) Coordinating colors look best. You don’t want to all match, but coordinate. So, picking out colors that coordinate well together is key. Some examples: Yellow and blue, Yellow and Purple, Purple and Grey, Red and Brown, Blue and Maroon.
2) Stay away from too many busy patterns. If everyone is wearing plaid shirts, it’s distracting to the photo (and a blast from the past!). However, if sister wants to wear purple polka dots, just put some solids next to it! A couple of fun patterns are okay, but too many can be distracting. I usually suggest that if one family member is wearing a pattern, others should stick to primarily solid colors. As you can see in my below example of blacks and creams, it’s sometime okay to break the rules 🙂 I have TWO patterns in one photo.
3) Adding in fun accessories can add interest to a photograph. Chunky necklaces, fun hats, colorful scarfs. These are fun items to bring to your session. We can use them in some photos to add an additional look.
4) And most important – Dress cute, but dress in a way that makes you comfortable.
Can’t wait to see all of my families this fall. It’s gonna be a blast!
